About Brenna Davis

Brenna Davis is a CEO, board leader, and author known for advancing regenerative leadership and long-horizon stewardship through real operating responsibility. Her work focuses on helping organizations lead through sustained complexity by strengthening governance discipline, decision-making under constraint, and institutional resilience.

She currently serves as CEO of Organically Grown Company, one of the largest steward-owned food distribution companies in the United States. In this role, she holds full P&L responsibility and leads nearly 300 employees across a mission-critical supply chain. Operating within a Perpetual Purpose Trust structure, her leadership centers on translating purpose into daily decisions while maintaining financial strength, cultural coherence, and long-term viability.

Brenna brings deep operating experience across steward-owned models, including cooperatives and Perpetual Purpose Trust structures. She has been called upon to lead within governance systems designed for long-term ownership and accountability, where success depends on disciplined execution rather than short-term exit dynamics. Her experience reflects the reality that stewardship ownership is not static. It requires ongoing judgment, refinement, and leadership under real economic, operational, and human constraints.

Over more than two decades, Brenna has worked with companies, boards, and executive teams through moments of growth and transition, including succession, ownership evolution, climate and sustainability strategy, and cultural change. Her experience spans organizations ranging from $20 million startups to $200 billion multinationals. Across this range, she focuses on integrating sustainability into core strategy and operations, ensuring it is embedded in how decisions are made rather than treated as a parallel initiative.

Her leadership approach integrates systems thinking with human presence, operational discipline with purpose, and governance structures with cultural trust. Regenerative leadership, as she practices it, is a discipline rather than a philosophy. It is the work of maintaining accountability, judgment, and performance while restoring long-term value for people, organizations, and the systems they depend on.

Leading through sustained complexity is a central focus of her work. Rather than responding to each crisis in isolation, Brenna helps leaders build decision discipline, psychological safety, and governance practices that allow organizations to adapt without losing coherence or humanity. In this context, care, clarity, and responsibility are not soft skills. They are essential leadership capacities for long-horizon stewardship.

Brenna has served on fiduciary and advisory boards, holds NACD Directorship Certification, and has been recognized as a MO 100 Top Impact CEO. Her work has been featured in leading business and sustainability publications and has informed policy and practice through national initiatives and multi-stakeholder platforms.

She is the author of Leading Through Fire: Resilient Leadership for People, Planet, and the Future, a bestselling practical field guide for leaders carrying real responsibility in high-stakes environments. The book offers grounded frameworks and daily practices for sustaining judgment, resilience, and integrity when conditions are demanding and the path forward is uncertain.

If you are stewarding an organization through complexity or shaping something meant to last, she welcomes the conversation.

“If you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area.
Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in.
Go a little bit out of your depth.
And when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.”
